What we do
Relational Organising
At the heart of the Community Service Organisation is relational organising—a powerful strategy for societal change that places human relationships at its centre.
Relational organising is about building and sharing relational power: the capacity to act collectively for the good of communities. It’s a way to reconnect people with each other and their shared purpose, empowering them to shape the decisions and agendas that affect their lives.
How Relational Organising Works
Strengthening Communities: We foster meaningful relationships within local communities, helping people come together around shared challenges and opportunities.
Empowering Action: Through house meetings, relational meetings, and structured training, we give individuals the tools to organise and take collective action.
Building Collective Power: By uniting people, we transform isolated individuals into a powerful force capable of influencing decisions and creating change.
Challenging Alienation: We tackle the disconnect caused by centralised systems of power, creating spaces where everyone can participate and contribute meaningfully.
Why Relational Organising Matters
In a world where people often feel powerless, relational organising offers a way forward. It helps communities reclaim control over their lives by shifting the focus from power over—where decisions are imposed from above—to power to—where people collaborate to achieve shared goals.
Relational organising makes democracy real, not just something that happens at the ballot box. It transforms the way communities interact with leaders, decisions, and systems, ensuring that power is grounded in trust, relationships, and collective strength.
Relational organising isn’t just what we do—it’s how we make change possible. Through relationships, we build power. And through power, we build a better future.
